Getting started

1 · Install

  1. Download the DMG (Apple Silicon for M1–M4, Intel for older Macs) and drag ScriptPin-AnswerEye to Applications.
  2. First launch: right-click → Open. If macOS warns you, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Once only.
  3. Windows: download the Setup .exe and run it. If SmartScreen appears: More info → Run anyway (Windows build isn't code-signed yet). Shortcuts use Ctrl instead of ⌘.
  4. Mac: grant Screen Recording when asked — AnswerEye can't read the screen without it.

2 · Get an API key (one minute)

Open ⚙ Settings, choose a provider, and paste a key. Create one directly:

For reading the screen, pick a vision-capable model (Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini, llama3.2-vision). Typed Ask works with any model.

Questions

Why is it free?

AnswerEye is ScriptPin's first free product, with more to come. You bring your own AI key, so there's no server cost to pass on. If it helps you, take a look at Interview Copilot and Meeting Copilot.

Is my screen data private?

Yes. Captures go directly from your Mac to the provider you configured, with your key. ScriptPin has no servers in the loop, no accounts, and no telemetry. Your key is encrypted on disk, and there's an opt-in toggle to hide AnswerEye from screen shares.

Can it run fully offline?

Yes — point it at a local Ollama or LM Studio server with a local vision model. Nothing leaves your machine.

How much do answers cost?

You pay your provider directly — usually a fraction of a cent per read with models like GPT-4o-mini or Claude Haiku. The card shows a running session estimate.

Is this for cheating on exams?

No. It's a study and productivity tool — practice tests, homework help, flashcards, and understanding what's on your screen. Don't use it where AI help is prohibited; following your school's or employer's rules is on you.
